Frequently Asked Questions for Portfolio Class
Who is this class for?
This class is designed for students in Grades 8–12 who are interested in applying to art, design, animation, architecture, or other creative post-secondary programs. Students prepare portfolios suitable for a variety of art and design schools, including programs such as Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Ontario College of Art & Design University, Pratt Institute, and many other Canadian, US and international institutions.
What if the student doesn't know what they want to study yet?
That's perfectly fine. We begin by building strong foundational skills while helping students explore different artistic disciplines before narrowing their focus. Instructors will provide feedback and suggest potential majors and job that students can look into. Portfolio prep students can also take advantage of our Special Workshops that happen throughout the year. Where industry professionals or University students run career or major focus classes.
How often should students attend?
We recommend attending at least once per week with a minimum of 3hrs per class. Students with application deadlines or more competitive goals may benefit from attending multiple classes per week.
